class=\"p1\">Immersed in the sounds of antiquity, with tropical origins and with an eye on the fusions of 21st century music, Mar\u00eda Elena Medina is a multifaceted artist focused on stringed instruments and voice. One of her most relevant musical experiences was being part of the show &#8220;Zaia&#8221;, from the worldwide entertainment company Cirque du Soleil.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Coming from a family of musicians from Venezuela, Mar\u00eda Elena Medina trained as a cellist at the music conservatory &#8220;Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar&#8221;, Caracas, with the musician and composer Paul Desenne.<br \/>At the age of fourteen she was a soloist in the &#8220;Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar&#8221; Symphony Orchestra, currently known as one of the orchestras of &#8220;El Sistema&#8221;. In 2000 she won the first prize at the Bach-Abel International Viola da Gamba Competition in K\u00f6then-Anhalt, Germany. She graduated at the Esmuc as a viola gambist (Barcelona, Spain) with Sophie Watillon and Jordi Savall; and as a singer with Lambert Climent and Marta Almajano. She has performed at numerous festivals in Europe and America, collaborating with ensembles, professional choirs and orchestras.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">She recently completed a master&#8217;s degree in early music interpretation at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Professor Philippe Pierlot.
